German Chancellor Angela Merkel has insisted that is was "very well" despite her body trembling involuntarily for the third time in one month on Wednesday.

Merkel was seen shaking as national anthems were being played at the reception of visiting of Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne.

In a press conference held later in the day, the German Chancellor said that there was no need to worry about her health.

"I feel very well, there is no need to worry," Merkel said, adding that she was simply still in a phase of "processing" a previous shaking spell, but that "there has been progress".

"I will have to live with it for a while," she added.

"Just like how it has come, one day it will go away too.”

Wednesday’s trembling was well visible, although not as severe as it happened in the first instance which occurred in June.

She blamed the first bout of shaking on dehydration, but a second episode came a week later at the end of June, hours before she boarded a plane for the G20 Summit in Osaka, Japan.

Merkel, 64, has served as the Chancellor of Germany since 2005. She is set to leave power at the end of her term in 2021.
