Nigeria to further develop ties with Japan during TICAD7 conference

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is on his way to Japan to take part in the seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development. (TICAD)

Mr. Buhari is delivering Nigeria’s statement during Plenary Session Three. He’s expected to share his views Nigeria-Japan relations as well as his takeaways from 2018’s TICAD event held in Nairobi.

The 2019 conference is being held in Yokohama under the theme: “Africa and Yokohama, sharing Passion for the Future”.

TICAD7 will focus on Africa’s “economic transformation and improvements in business environment and institution through private investment and innovation; promotion of resilient and sustainable African society for human security; and peace and stability in support of Africa’s domestic proactive efforts.”

The government of Japan has been leading this conference since 1993. The United Nations, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank and African Union Commission (AUC) are also taking part.
