Madagascar's President Andry Rajoelina has heaped praise on China for its robust development over the past seventy years.

The 45-year-old made the remarks in line with celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, held on October 1.

"Firstly, I'd like to congratulate President Xi Jinping and the citizens of the People's Republic of China on the momentous celebration of their 70th anniversary. I want to wish them good luck and prosperity for their country. In 70 years, the People's Republic of China has proven itself with its emerging economy and leadership on the international stage. China has always proven its innovation and dynamic economy," President Rajoelina told CGTN.

The Madagascan leader also hailed the strong loyalty and unity of purpose exhibited by the Chinese people, that enabled their country to develop so quickly.

He urged other nations to emulate the spirit in their quest to develop further.

President Rajoelina also hailed the Belt and Road Initiative, which he says will boost trade and cooperation between Asia and Africa.

"The Belt and Road Initiative is an invigorating program which allows for an increase in the trade between Asia and Africa. Hundreds of thousands, even millions of people will benefit from the future increase of trade, and Madagascar plans to play an active role in this program," he said.

President Xi on Tuesday led his country in marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, where he called for upholding the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

He also called for efforts to constantly meet people's aspirations for a better life and make new historic achievements.

Other than President Rajoelina, other African presidents also sent their regards to President Xi and China for their milestone, including Tanzanian President John Magufuli and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
