The House of Representatives is investigating whether President Donald Trump lied to special counsel Robert Mueller in the Russia investigation, according to its general counsel Douglas Letter.

Letter told a federal appeals court in Washington that the House was looking into whether Trump's written testimony to federal investigators were dishonest.

Following disclosures at the trial of long-time Trump adviser Roger Stone, who was found guilty of obstructing a congressional investigation into the Russia investigation, there are questions about whether Trump lied.

A former deputy campaign chairman for Trump, Rick Gates, gave evidence that Trump and Stone discussed information that was coming that could help the campaign in mid-2016. This was at a time when Stone was trying to access confidential details about stolen Democratic documents WikiLeaks had.

However, Trump told Mueller in his written statements he didn't remember discussing WikiLeaks with Stone.

The Mueller report did not decide that there was a criminal conspiracy between Russia and President Trump's campaign to influence the 2016 US presidential election.
