U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, while speaking to reporters, read off a statement that appeared to have been written in black sharpie.

Done in block letters, the statement which was photographed by a journalist read: "I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zellinsky to do the right thing. This is the final word from the Pres. of the U.S."

President Trump spoke ahead of his departure to Texas. He did not answer questions from the reporters, instead sticking to previewing his trip.

Democrats are seeking to prove that President Trump leveraged military aid and a White House meeting in exchange for investigations of Joe Biden, his son Hunter and other Democrats.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing, labeling the impeachment inquiry a "witch hunt."

If the impeachment is successful, Donald Trump will become just the third president in U.S. history to be impeached.
