Also, Moroccan midfielder Amine Harit grabbed the opening goal in Schalke 04's 2-1 win away to Werder Bremen to move them up to 5th in the table, three points behind Mönchengladbach.

In Spain, Morocco's Youssef En Nesyri gave bottom-of-the-table Leganes a shock lead against La Liga leaders Barcelona but would end up on the losing side in a 2-1 defeat.

In France, South Africa's Lebo Mothiba scored a goal and assisted another one and Cape Verde's Joia Nuno Da Costa also scored in Strasbourg's 4-0 win against 10-man Amiens.
