Twitter Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey will relocate to Africa mid next year albeit temporarily.
The 43-year-old made the announcement after completing his three-week long tour of Africa.
"Sad to be leaving the continent…for now," Dorsey tweeted on Wednesday. "Africa will define the future (especially the bitcoin one!). Not sure where yet, but I'll be living here for 3-6 months mid 2020."
The tech executive visited Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Ethiopia in his trip, meeting tens of techpreneurs from across the continent.
Twitter is increasingly becoming a popular social media site in Africa. It is the fourth most used social media site in the continent, accounting for 6.67% users according to StatCounter.
Facebook leads the pile with 63.73%, followed by YouTube with 15.95% and Pinterest with 8.32%.
Dorsey's last week in Africa saw him visit Ethiopia, where his stay coincided with the visit of Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma.
Ma was in the country to sign an agreement establishing a new trade platform that would facilitate cross-border transactions and provide smart logistics for small and micro enterprises.
