Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday launched a one-stop center at a Chinese industrial park in the country aimed at easing the process of doing business.

The center located at Liaoshen Industrial Park in the central district of Nakaseke, will have immigration officers and tax authorities to cut down the process of clearance by the country's revenue authorities.

President Museveni said Uganda's liberalization policy and regional market integration have attracted foreign direct investment to the eastern African country.

He praised the Chinese government for financing Africa's infrastructure development and encouraging Chinese private investors to come to Africa.

On his part, Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhuqiang said China is committed to implementing the eight major initiatives announced at the 2018 Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

He said his country was ready to share expertise in production and management as Uganda continues to fast-track its industrialization.

Liaoshen Industrial Park currently accommodates 13 factories and employs about 2,500 local people. Zhang Hao, managing director of the park, said they expect to have 35 factories employing over 8,000 people next year.

Uganda's ministry of finance said the country is prioritizing industrialization as one of the key drivers to become a middle-income country.
