Cricket South Africa (CSA) president Chris Nenzani on Saturday announced the appointment of Jacques Faul as the governing body's acting CEO following the suspension of Thabang Moroe.

Nenzani said that former International Cricket Council CEO Dave Richardson will be of assistance to Jacques Faul regarding any matter of need.

Moroe was suspended by the CSA board of directors on Friday following allegations of misconduct.

Five journalists had their accreditations revoked with reports stating that Moroe was not pleased with their coverage of the body.

Moroe has since issued an apology over the matter and also apologized to sponsors who got embroiled in the matter following an ambiguous tweet which appeared to infer their support for the accreditation blunder.

Standard Bank said that it will not renew its sponsorship of the South African national men's cricket team when the current deal expires at the end of April next year due to the current problems at the CSA.

Nenzani also revealed that former Proteas captain Graeme Smith is in the final stages of talks regarding the vacant role of director of cricket.

South African cricket is experiencing difficult times including an ongoing legal battle with the South African Cricketers Association (SACA) over a proposed domestic reform for the 2020/21 season. Three senior officials have also been suspended from the body for allegedly neglecting their duty and the body is estimated to be in debt running into hundreds of millions of Rands.

South Africa is due to play England in a four-match Test series which is to begin on December 26.
