Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for "decisive" and "collective" action against countries supporting "terrorism" around the world.

President el-Sisi made the call on Wednesday while addressing the opening ceremony of the inaugural Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.

"There should be a decisive response to countries supporting terrorism and a collective response against terrorism, because the terrorist groups will only have the ability to fight if they are provided with financial, military and moral support," he said.

El-Sisi was joined in the event by other leaders including presidents of Niger, Chad, Nigeria and Senegal. Officials from the U.S., U.K., and Canada were also in attendance.

The Aswan Forum is a platform for African, world leaders and other players to discuss the operationalization of interlinkages between "sustaining peace" and "sustainable development" in Africa, with the hope of making "a real difference in peoples' lives and to spread hope.

Various African countries are dogged by violence perpetrated by terrorists.

The most affected regions in Africa affected by terrorism include the Sahel region, the Horn of Africa region and parts of North Africa.

In his address, el-Sisi also called for a solution for Libya's crisis, which has lasted eight years.

He said a "comprehensive, political solution would be achieved in the coming months" for the conflict.
