Tunisian President Kais Saied on Saturday congratulated the newly-elected Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune over phone, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported.
Saied expressed his hope for stronger relations between the two countries after Tebboune's victory in the presidential election.
"Tunisian president expressed his desire to boost cooperations between Tunisia and Algeria and to realize the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and their hope of building a common future," said TAP.
Tebboune, 74, won a majority 58.15 percent of vote in the Algerian presidential election on Thursday, becoming the North African country's 8th elected president since it gained independence from France in 1962.
