Manchester United's French midfielder Paul Pogba attended a charity football match in his homeland aimed at raising funds to provide clean drinking water in Guinea.

While Paul Pogba did not take part in the game held on Sunday, his brothers Florentin Pogba and Mathias Pogba played.

The match attracted some of the world's brightest football talents including Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.

Paul Pogba made a speech, posed for photos and mingled with children in the event dubbed "48h for Guinea."

Also in attendance was Pogba's mother Yeo.

"For this first year, we are trying to raise funds for children trough providing drinking water, health and education, that's the first step," she said.

"Before being footballers, we are men, we are humans, we are children. My mother who is here is Guinean, and my father was Guinean. we want to help our country, it's the country of our ancestors, of our parents. We want to do something good," Paul Pogba said.

Paul Pogba missed Manchester United's 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday as he continues his return from injury.

The midfielder was rested for the match having only just returned from a 12-week absence with an ankle problem, which saw him miss 17 games.

Paul Pogba made two substitute appearances against Watford and Newcastle, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not want to risk him against Burnley in case he aggravated his injury.

The French midfielder is however expected to be fit for his side's New Year's clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
