Thirteen Ethiopians were arrested in central Kenya for being in the country illegally, local Citizen television reports.

The Ethiopians are reported to have been travelling in a car on Thursday night when they were intercepted by police. A stash of bhang was also confiscated.

While the Ethiopians departure point remains unknown, they are reported to have been travelling to the capital Nairobi.

"The Ethiopians between 14 and 24 years old were being transported to Nairobi from Ethiopia and right now they are being held at Sagana Police Station and will be charged for being in the country illegally,” Citizen quotes Mwea West police boss Stephen Wenda.

The foreigners were arraigned in court but did not take plea since they could not communicate in English or Kiswahili, Kenya’s official languages.
