Dozens of tourists are stranded in Kenya’s Maasai Mara after heavy rains left parts of the popular wildlife reserve flooded.

Local sources say the popular tourist attraction was hit by heavy rains on Wednesday night. The situation has been made worse by waters flowing from the Mau Forest following days of rainfall there too.

Some local drivers say they have been stuck in the wilderness since Thursday morning as they wait for the waters to subside.

Roads and bridges in parts of the Maasai Mara have been submerged by the raging waters, affecting even the local communities.

Some hotels in the area were also forced to evacuate their clients to higher ground as the flood waters forced their way into hotel rooms.
