Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has been banned from all football activities until June 2020 and fined £150,000 after he was found guilty of breaching the FA's gambling regulations.

The 30-year-old was slapped with a two-week ban and fined £75,000 in July 2019 after he was found guilty of giving his brother "inside information" over a bet regarding his possible transfer to Sevilla.

The FA then appealed the punishment, arguing that it was too lenient.

"Daniel Sturridge has been suspended from all football and football-related activity from today until the end of 17 June 2020," the FA said in a statement.

FIFA confirmed the ban would be effective worldwide.

Sterling's contract with Turkish side Trabzonspor was mutually terminated earlier on Monday.

He had joined the club in the summer on a three-year deal following his release from Liverpool.
