Abdelmounaïm Bah has been appointed the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Acting General Secretary following the earlier resignation of Mouad Hajji.

Bah's appointment was confirmed by CAF following an Emergency Committee meeting held on Tuesday at the request of the body's president Ahmad Ahmad.

"The members have full confidence in Bah who has exhibited good qualities since joining CAF, particularly during the Total Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2019," a statement from CAF said.

Bah meanwhile will continue to serve as CAF's Commercial Director.

The new acting General Secretary is expected to assume office immediately, and will hold the position until the next meeting of the CAF Executive Committee.

Bah's predecessor Hajji resigned on Monday citing personal reasons.

Hajji served the continental body for nearly 11 months having been brought in as a replacement for Amr Fathy.

CAF President Ahmad hailed Hajji for his contribution to the body, saying he had helped in driving the reforms of the organisation and African football since his appointment.
