Cameroon has confirmed a second case of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Africa to 42.
New reports of confirmed cases continue to be reported across Africa, with nine countries having verified cases so far.
The other countries include; Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria and Togo.
"Both cases have been isolated in the Yaounde Central Hospital and are currently receiving adequate symptomatic treatment. Basic commodities are provided under the strict respect of ethical requirements and heath safety regulations. Tracing and screening of contacts which are particularly at risk is effective," the ministry of health said.
The ministry assured Cameroonians that the situation is under control, and that it will do everything to contain the spread of the virus.
It also urged any nationals that had traveled to countries that have confirmed cases or come into contact with any persons with the virus to forward themselves for treatment.
