Seychelles on Sunday confirmed a third case of Covid-19 virus.

The latest victim is a male elderly tourist from the Netherlands who arrived in the country on Wednesday 11th March. He was travelling with his wife on-board flight EK 705 from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Both have been in the isolation unit of the Anse Royale Hospital after showing mild respiratory symptoms since Saturday.

The latest case brings the total number of travellers from that flight to have been diagnosed with the virus to three.

A Seychellois couple in their 60s also tested positive Saturday although earlier reports had erroneously reported the two as Italian citizens. They have been in the quarantine centre at Ile Perseverance since their return in the country from a trip to Italy.

The Ministry of Health is reassuring the public that necessary contact tracing are being carried out to contain the spread of the virus at community level swiftly.
