Kenyan health officials have announced the country's fourth confirmed case of COVID-19. Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe revealed the news at a press conference Tuesday afternoon

Kagwe said the patient patient had traveled from London on March 8, arriving in Kenya by air the following day. The government is currently working to trace any persons the patient may have come into close contact with since their arrival.

Kenya confirmed its first case of the new disease on Friday, when a 27-year-old woman who had traveled to Kenya from the US via London was revealed to be infected. Her close contacts were traced tested by health officials, resulting in two additional cases of COVID-19 being confirmed on Sunday.

This latest case and any associated infections would represent a distinct cluster from the chain transmission connected to Kenya's initial case.

The government has restricted travel, closed schools, discouraged public gatherings and boosted sanitation in an effort to curb the spread of the disease.
