Crystal Palace's Ivorian winger Wilfried Zaha has offered free accommodation to medical staff in London as they battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 27-year-old will open the doors of his London properties to the nurses and doctors who may not be able to return home after their shifts during the pandemic.

The Ivorian is the latest football figure to offer free accommodation to medical practitioners after former Manchester United star Gary Neville and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

"If you require some housing for doctors or medical staff in this time NHS London, please get in touch with us, ZO Properties, myself and Wilfried Zaha will provide some housing," Zaha's business partner Obi Williams said on Twitter.

In an interview with The Times on Saturday, Zaha said this move was aimed at helping in the fight aginst COVID-19.

"If you do good, good will come to you," said Zaha. "It is clear that my intentions are that all I want to do is help at every opportunity, especially in the crazy period we are going through."

"Health workers please reach out. We have already had feedback — this is exactly what we wanted to achieve."

Zaha's move comes as the COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom surpassed 4,014 and global confirmed COVID-19 cases exceeded 275,000.

In response, the U.K. government ordered the closure of all pubs, cafes and restaurants in a bid to contain the spread of the virus.
