Kenya on Thursday registered 29 new coronavirus cases in the country, pushing confirmed cases to 110.

The rising cases came as the Ministry of Health reported two new fatalities, raising the death toll from COVID-19 to three.

Health minister Mutahi Kagwe said on Thursday that 28 of the new cases were Kenyans with one being a Congolese national.

He warned Kenyans not to trivialize the pandemic even as cases hit over 100 mark in country.

He said those boarding passenger service vehicles and motorbikes  should now start wearing face-masks. "Masks do help if you know how to use them and we will start immediately the campaign to teach the public how to wear them."

He warned Kenyans not to travel during the upcoming Good Friday and Easter holidays adding that those in respective counties should stay put in those regions.

He also warned those in self isolation and quarantine to maintain social distancing submitting that those who are negative might be infected by those who are positive if they are not careful.

The minister said the Deputy Governor of the coastal county of Kilifi has fully recovered and the government will take action against him for refusing to adhere to self quarantine regulations when he flew in from abroad.
