Burundi has confirmed two new COVID-19, bringing the country's total tally to five.
The East African country is one of 52 African states that have recorded COVID-19 cases. The continent has reported close to 11,000 COVID-19 cases, with over 500 deaths. Over 1,000 people have recovered.
The new cases in Burundi come as the World Health Organization (WHO) warned of possible tough times ahead for Africa.
"We anticipate severe hardship for already overstretched health systems, particularly in rural areas, which normally lack the resources of those in cities," said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom.
Globally, COVID-19 cases have so far surpassed 1.7 million, with nearly 105,000 deaths reported. Over 390,000 have recovered.
