A six-week-old has become one of the latest people to die in the U.K. after testing positive for COVID-19, the National Health Service (NHS) said on Friday.
The latest data from the U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University shows that 30,689 people have died so far from the disease in the U.K. This is the second-highest death toll from COVID-19 globally, after the U.S. which has registered 75,781 fatalities.

The latest U.K. figures come as the World Health Organization (WHO) continues to appeal for funds to help in its COVID-19 response plan.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom on Thursday said his organization still needed $1.3 billion for the plans to tackle the spread of the disease in 2020.
"The updated SPRP estimates that WHO requires 1.7 billion U.S. dollars to respond to COVID-19, across the three levels of the organization," said Tedros.
"This estimate includes the funds that WHO has already received to date, leaving WHO with a funding gap of 1.3 billion dollars for 2020."
The global COVID-19 infections have surpassed 3.9 million, with fatalities going beyond 270,000, according to JHU.
