Tunisian league leaders Espérance moved closer to retaining their title after a goalless draw with Club Africain at the Stade Olympique de Radès in Radès on Wednesday.

Espérance needed a win to be crowned league champions after their nearest challengers CS Sfaxien suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Hammam-Lif on Tuesday.

Espérance will still win the title if they win their next game, against Chebba, and CS Sfaxien fails to match their result.

However, even if Sfaxien does win all its remaining matches and Espérance only draws one and loses three matches, Sfaxien will have to have overcome a goal difference of +15 to be able to pip Espérance to the title.

In other games, Monastir missed the chance to go second after they drew a third straight game, this time against US Tataouine.

Hedi Khalfa's 97th minute equalizer erased Fahmi Ben Romdhane's strike midway through the first half and earned US Tataouine a point.

Monastir remained in third place on 41 points, two behind CS Sfaxien, while US Tataouine is 11th with 20 points.

Meanwhile, Stade Tunisien and Metlaoui both recorded 2-0 and 1-0 victories over Slimane and JS Kairouan respectively.
