Kenya on Saturday reported 164 new COVID-19 cases, as it continues to see a decline in new infections.

The East African country has now registered a total of 33,794 confirmed cases, and is one of only eight countries on the continent to report more than 30,000 COVID-19 infections.

In a media briefing in Nairobi, the Minister of Health, Mutahi Kagwe, also announced that five more patients had succumbed to the disease, taking its total number of fatalities to 572.

On a brighter side however, 156 more patients recovered, bringing the country's total number of recoveries to 19,590.
