According to the AFP tally released at 1640 GMT Tuesday using official data from across the continent, it shows that more than four million people have been infected with the coronavirus on the European continent.

In total, there have been 4,006,077 cases, with Russia, Spain and Britain recording the highest number of infections, while 216,080 people have died and 2,281,959 have recovered, the data showed.
