Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced on Monday.

The 42-year-old said he feels good and will head into self-isolation as prescribed by health authorities.

"There are no lucky people for whom COVID-19 does not pose a threat," Zelensky wrote on Twitter. "Despite all the quarantine measures, I received a positive test. I feel good and will take a lot of vitamins. I promise to isolate myself, but will keep working. I will overcome COVID-19 as most people do."

Ukraine, a country of nearly 42 million people, has reported Europe's ninth-highest COVID-19 infections.

Its tally of 469,018 confirmed cases is accompanied by 8,565 deaths.
