U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has held a telephone conversation with Joe Biden to congratulate him for his projected win of the U.S. Presidential elections.

Boris confirmed on Twitter that the phone call had taken place on Tuesday, days after U.S. media projected a victory for him over President Donald Trump.

"I just spoke to Joe Biden to congratulate him on his election. I look forward to strengthening the partnership between our countries and to working with him on our shared priorities – from tackling climate change, to promoting democracy and building back better from the pandemic," said Boris.

Boris Johnson is the latest world leader to congratulate Biden for his projected win, following others including Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others.

Boris also acknowledged Biden’s victory over the weekend in a statement where he said: "The U.S. is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security."
