Liverpool's Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 28-year-old tested positive while on international duty, having arrived in Egypt earlier this week.

"The medical survey conducted on our first national football team mission showed that our international player Mohamed Salah [of] Liverpool was infected with the coronavirus after his survey came back positive," said The Egyptian FA.

"Although he is not suffering from any symptoms, the rest of the team tested negative."

The football body added that the rest of the Egypt team tested negative for COVID-19.

Salah's positive test will be a huge blow for Liverpool who has already lost other players to long-term injuries, just eight games into the season.

Defenders Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are recovering from surgeries after sustaining injuries that threaten to leave the Reds title defense vulnerable.
