Kenyan league champions Gor Mahia advanced to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after edging out Rwandan giants APR F.C. in a dramatic second leg tie on Saturday.

Gor Mahia scored two late goals to defeat APR 3-1 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi and advance 4-3 on aggregate.

The hosts came into the game needing a victory as they had lost the first leg 2-1 in Kigali last week.

They nearly got off to the worst possible start after they conceded an early penalty but former Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge missed the resulting spot-kick.

They then made the Rwandans pay for their miss after Sammy Onyango put them ahead in the 18^th minute to level the tie on aggregate.

The game then went on with both sides trying to unlock each other's defence and strike a killer blow against the other without any success.

As the game edged towards full-time, Gor Mahia appeared to be heading for qualification by virtue of the away goals rule. However, the tie swung in the visitors' favour when they leveled the game in the 82^nd minute through Keddy Nsanzimfura to restore their one-goal advantage.

A dramatic finale then saw two goals in injury time and effectively end the contest. First, Sydney Ochieng found the net in the 94^th minute before Nicholas Kipkirui sealed the win two minutes later.

Gor Mahia will face the winner of the tie between CR Belouizdad of Algeria and Al Nasr of Libya in the next round of qualifying.
