91-year-old Ex-Namibia president Sam Nujoma hospitalized with COVID-19

Former Namibian president Sam Shafishuna Nujoma has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19, the current President Hage Geingob announced on Monday.

"The Founding President of the Republic of Namibia was admitted to hospital on 6 December 2020, after testing positive for Covid-19. The Founding President is receiving treatment in hospital, is in a stable condition and is showing encouraging signs of improvement," said Geingob.

Geingob delivered wishes for a quick recovery to the 91-year-old former president who ruled the Southern African country between 1990 and 2005.

By Monday, Namibia had reported 15,078 confirmed COVID-19 infections with 152 deaths.
