Mexico City to shut down nonessential activity on COVID-19 surge

Mexico City will shut down all non-essential activity starting on Saturday and until January 10 as COVID-19 cases mount in the nation's capital.

The shutdown extends to the State of Mexico, the nation's most populous state. The decision comes after the number of people with the virus occupying hospital beds reached a record this month in Mexico City.
