U.S. COVID-19 cases surpass 19 million mark: JHU

The number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. have surpassed the 19 million mark, according to the latest data from the Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

By Sunday morning local time, the country had registered 19,000,572 infections, more than 8.8 million more than the tally reported by India, whose cases are second-highest globally.

The JHU data also showed that the U.S. had reported 332,145 COVID-19 related deaths.

The U.S. now accounts or 23.60 percent of the world's COVID-19 infections and 18.87 percent of its deaths.

The global caseload has exceeded the 80.49 million mark, while the death toll has topped the 1.76 million mark.
