Kenya reports 123 new COVID-19 cases, total tally jumps to 98,555

Kenya's COVID-19 infections rose to 98,555 on Wednesday after the ministry of health announced 123 new cases confirmed over the past 24 hours.

The figures were announced by the Minister of Health, Mutahi Kagwe, who noted that the latest new infections recorded were from 4,948 samples tested.

He also said four patients had died from the disease over the same period, taking the country's total number of fatalities to 1,720.

Kenya's virus load is the ninth-highest in Africa, only shadowed by tallies recorded by South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Algeria and Nigeria.

Its death toll is the seventh-highest on the continent.
