The official death toll from the coronavirus pandemic in the UK rose to 105,571 after the government reported 1,200 additional deaths on Saturday.
The figure is a drop from the 1,245 reported on Friday, and a significant reduction from the 1,348 deaths reported exactly a week ago.
The UK has reported more coronavirus-related deaths than any other country in Europe and has one of the highest COVID-19 death rates in the world.
The total number of cases, meanwhile, rose to 3,796,088 after a further 23,275 new confirmed cases were reported.
The latest number represents a significant drop from the 29,079 reported on Friday, and 33,552 reported a week ago.
Furthermore, a total of 8,378,940 people have received their first vaccine doses while another 480,432 have received their second doses.
