President Joe Biden's administration will increase the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses sent to states this week.
According to the Hill, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said states will receive 13.6 million doses per week starting this week.
That represents a 57 percent increase over the amount states were getting when Biden first took office.
Case numbers have dropped in recent weeks, though experts warn that the drop could be temporary.
According to data published on Sunday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a total of 52,884,356 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in the U.S.
The agency notes that just over 38 million people have now received at least one dose of the vaccine, and about 14 million people have been fully vaccinated.
