Britain has recorded a further 190 coronavirus deaths and 5,926 cases in the latest 24-hour period.
The Government said the latest figures means the number of people who have died within 28 days of testing positive for COVID-19 in the UK stands at 124,987.
The total number of deaths is lower than Tuesday's count of 231, although there was a rise in cases from the figure of 5,766.
The figures compare to 343 deaths and 6,391 cases reported last Wednesday (3 March).
Separate figures published by the UK's statistics agencies for deaths where COVID-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 147,000 deaths involving the coronavirus in the UK.
The total number of lab-confirmed cases in the UK has now reached 4,234,924.
Separately the government data up to 9 March shows that of the 24,064,182 jabs given in the UK so far, 22,809,829 were first doses - a rise of 217,301 on the previous day.
Some 1,254,353 were second doses, an increase of 72,922.
