China's Foreign Ministry has commented on the joint statement about China released on Friday by Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and U.S. President Joe Biden.

The Ministry says both Taiwan and the Diaoyu Islands are Chinese territory. Hong Kong and Xinjiang-related affairs are purely China's internal affairs. China has indisputable sovereignty over the islands in the South China Sea and their adjacent waters. The ministry accuses the U.S.-Japan joint statement of grossly interfering in China's internal affairs and seriously violating the basic norms governing international relations.

It says China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to the statement, and has made clear its solemn position to the U.S. and Japan through diplomatic channels. China's foreign ministry adds the move of the "U.S.-Japan alliance" only demonstrates its plot to harm regional peace and stability.

The ministry urges the U.S. and Japan to take China's concerns seriously, abide by the one-China principle, and immediately stop meddling in China's internal affairs and harming China's interests. It says China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests.
