Italy on Saturday reported 15,370 new confirmed coronavirus infections, a slight decrease from the 15,493 cases logged on Friday.
The governments also reported a further 310 deaths which is a significant reduction from the 429 fatalities recorded on Friday. The nationwide death toll currently stands at 116,676.
Meanwhile, more than 10 million people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to local media outlet La Repubblica.
The doses given account for about 83.8 percent of those delivered. In total, 16.9 percent of Italy's population has received at least one dose.
On Friday, Italy registered a new record for its number of vaccinations in a single day with 347,279 doses of vaccine being administered, the Emergency Commissioner said.
Italy is expected to ease coronavirus restrictions in many areas from April 26. However, the government stressed that extreme care was still needed to avoid any reversals in the reopening of many closed activities.
Restrictions on business and movement have been in place for most of this year in Italy, which has one of the highest death tolls globally and still reports hundreds of fatalities daily.
Current restrictions were set to expire at the start of May, and no decision had been taken on how to replace them.
