More than 600,000 first and second doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered in the UK on within 24 hours, data released by the government on Saturday showed.

According to the data, 119,306 first doses and 485,421 second doses were administered on Friday.

Meanwhile, the government reported an additional 35 deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test as of Saturday, raising the total death toll to 127,260.

However, alternative figures published by the UK's statistics agencies indicated there have been 151,000 deaths registered in the UK where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Additionally, the government reported 2,206 lab-confirmed cases in the UK, bringing the total to 4,385,938.

Saturday's figures are a decline compared to the 2,584 new cases reported a week ago.

In the last seven days, daily deaths reduced by 29 percent from the previous week, while cases were down 6.5 percent.
