Kate Middleton revealed on Saturday that she has received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Duchess of Cambridge made no mention of which vaccine she had received, but stated that it happened on Friday at London's Science Museum.

"I'm hugely grateful to everyone who is playing a part in the rollout. Thank you for everything you are doing," she posted on the official Twitter handle.

The photo shows the Duchess in a casual t-shirt and jeans as she gets the dose.

Prince William also received his first shot on Tuesday at the same location.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been advocates for the COVID-19 vaccine, urging others to also get the jab. In a video call earlier this year the duo spoke with women in the vulnerable category about the importance of getting vaccinated.

"Catherine and I are not medical experts by any means but if it's any consolation, we can wholeheartedly support having vaccinations. It's really, really important," Prince William had stated at the time.

They are the latest members of the UK royal family to be inoculated against COVID-19. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles have also been vaccinated.

The UK's National Health Service has vaccinated almost 37 million people and recently extended its inoculation campaign to include people in their 30s.
