The French government confirmed that no explosive device was found aboard an Air France airplane that arrived from Chad escorted by the French army following an anonymous threat about the potential presence of such a device.

"No explosive device has been found aboard the Air France Ndjamena-Paris plane, end of operation," Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin said in a tweet on Thursday.

Earlier on, Air France said in a statement that Flight AF865 from N'Djamena to Paris had been escorted by a French Air Force fighter plane following the threat and landed at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport.

French authorities immediately began investigating the incident once the plane landed.

Darmanin had also said that a crisis committee with representatives from various ministries had been convened and ended.

The incident comes days after Air France joined other airlines in halting flights over Belarus following the latter's forced grounding of a commercial passenger plane.
