Eritrea's ministry of health on Sunday reported 26 new COVID-19 infections from the latest round of testing, bringing the country's total number of cases to 5,362.

No new deaths have been recorded, meaning the cumulative virus-related fatalities remain at 19.

Some 36 patients were discharged from medical facilities after successfully recovering from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,818.

The Horn of African country is yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccines.
