Ethiopia registered 112 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, taking the countrywide tally to 275,881, the Ministry of Health reported.

This even as seven new deaths and 288 more recoveries from the disease were reported, bringing the national death toll to 4,309 and the total recoveries to 258,491.

Figures from the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that Ethiopia's COVID-19 cases accounted for about 6 percent of the continent's total.

Ethiopia is among the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 in Africa, following South Africa, Morocco and Tunisia.
