Arsenal are hoping skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will regain his goal scoring form that saw him take home the joint English Premier League Top Scorers medal in the 2018/19 season.

The Gabonese star managed 22 goals, alongside Liverpool duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

In the season that followed, Aubameyang replicated the goal scoring form, once again netting 22 times, one behind eventual top scorer Jamie Vardy.

However, last season proved to be a tough one for the Arsenal captain as he managed only 10 goals from 29 appearances.

His performances through the season often drew criticism from pundits and fans.

However, as the new season is set to begin on August 13, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence that the Gabonese star can improve his performances.

"Since he came back, he looked in the right mindset and he’s trying to put last season, which was difficult for everybody and not just for him, for many different reasons, and go back to the level that he can achieve. Because he knows and we know that with his level, this team can achieve much better thing," said Arteta.

Arsenal are set to begin their campaign against newly-promoted side Brentford on Friday.

The Gunners hope to start on a positive note as they set their eyes on possible return to European football.
