The UK on Saturday reported a further 29,520 coronavirus cases and 93 more fatalities, according to the latest daily figures.
The figures represent a decline from Friday's figures which saw 32,700 new COVID-19 infections and 100 deaths recorded. However, the number of infections is higher than those from last Saturday which saw 28,612 cases reported while the number of deaths was 103.
The news comes as scientists advising the UK government expect COVID-19 deaths and hospital admissions to decline for the remainder of the month, despite the reopening of the economy at the end of July.
The death toll in the UK stands at 130,894 since the start of the pandemic while the number of cases is 6,241,011.
Meanwhile, 39,047 first vaccine doses and 166,952 second vaccine doses were administered raising the respective totals to 47,254,399 and 40,372,981.
According to government data, the UK has now fully vaccinated an equivalent of 76.3 percent of the adult population while 89.3 percent has received a first dose.
