Tottenham Hotspur shocked defending champions Manchester City 1-0 in their opening game of the Premier League season on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
South Korean forward Heung-min Son scored the only goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half to record a memorable win without their captain Harry Kane.
Kane, who is the subject of a potential transfer to City, was left out of the match-day squad altogether while his future at Spurs hangs in the balance.
Son cut in past City defender Nathan Ake before curling a shot beyond goalkeeper Ederson into the bottom left-hand corner for his fourth goal in four appearances against City, which also gave Nuno Espirito Santo the perfect start to the season in his first game as Spurs manager.
Victory sends Tottenham up to ninth place with three points while City lies 13th with zero points after the conclusion of the opening round of fixtures this weekend.
Tottenham will next play away to Wolves, Espirito Santo's former club, on Sunday while Man City hosts promoted side Norwich City a day earlier.
