China's smartphone maker, OPPO, on Monday launched its Reno6 5G in the Kenyan market.

Muthoni Wachira, head of projects and public relations at OPPO Kenya told journalists in Nairobi that the new mobile device will be available for pre-order on e-commerce platforms such as Masoko, Jumia, Skygarden and Kilimall.

"As Kenya becomes the second African country to roll out 5G, OPPO could not have introduced Reno6 5G at a better time as this is set to improve photography, mobile entertainment, and overall consumer experience with super high-speed mobile internet in Kenya," Wachira said during the launch.

She noted that with Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhanced video performance, Reno6 5G is an AI portrait expert equipped with a load of industry-leading features.

Kenya became the second country in Africa after South Africa to launch trials for the trail-blazing 5G technology earlier this year, heralding new opportunities that the technology provides to individual users and enterprises.

Nokia and Huawei have been chosen as the two technology partners to implement the rollout of Safaricom's 5G network, according to the Communications Authority of Kenya.
