32 more U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents departed Afghanistan on Friday following the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country, the White House said.

American troops were flown out to meet President Joe Biden's August 31 deadline, but other Americans were left behind and have been leaving the country in scheduled evacuation flights.

The latest evacuation comes a day after an estimated 200 foreigners, including Americans, left departed Kabul on a commercial flight.

Reports indicate that there may still be some Americans in Afghanistan with no desire to leave immediately for various reasons.

The White House hopes more flights will be allowed to evacuate the remaining Americans willing to leave the country.
