Liverpool forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane made history on Saturday with goals against Watford at Vicarage Road, but it was Roberto Firmino who grabbed the headlines with a hattrick and an assist as the Reds routed the hosts 5-0.

Mane opened the scoring in the 9th minute from a sleek Salah assist, taking him to century of goals in the Premier League.

The Senegal star is only the third player to reach 100 Premier League goals without any of them being penalties after Les Ferdinand and Emile Heskey.

Firmino doubled Liverpool's goal tally in the 37th minute, before finding the back of the net again twice – in the 52nd minute and in extra time – to complete his hattrick.

Salah was the scorer of Liverpool's fourth goal after some neat footwork right inside Watford's penalty area, a goal that took him level with Didier Drogba as the highest scoring Africans in the Premier League.

The Egyptian has now scored 7 goals in 8 games and provided 4 assists in that time.

Salah's recent performances have drawn praise across the football world, with others hailing him as the best player currently.

After the game, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp added his voice to those assertions.

"His performance was massive today. The pass for the first goal was great and the second goal was special. He is top. We all see it. Who is better than him? We don't have to talk about what Messi and Ronaldo have done for world football and their dominance. But right now, he is the best," said Klopp.
